We did not want a typical self-promotion spot, so we decided to have and make something short and sweet. Cute, hey? At least she is pre-vacuuming, which is more than what most so-called professional carpet cleaners can say!

Learn from the Little Girl in the Pink Dress

Speaking of vacuuming, why is it so important? Clever transition, right? The Carpet and Rug Institute explains that one of the most important questions you should ask before Hiring a Carpet Cleaning Professional is: “Do you vacuum before deep cleaning the carpet?” The CRI adds: “The answer should be yes.” Yes, that’s right, professional carpet cleaners always pre-vacuum before they make the carpet wet. How many carpet cleaners pre-vacuum? Almost none. We will back to that in a minute. But, that could be why many feel it’s worth getting their carpets professionally cleaned anymore. If a professional does not show up and do a professional job, then why bother.

Wait a Minute, Does Pre-Vacuuming Really Make a Difference?

Yes, it does. Vacuuming before wet cleaning makes a big difference in the result. The Carpet and Rug Institute uses technology from NASA (no, I am not kidding, they do!) to prove this. But really, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to understand why this is so. As soon as you add moisture, dry soil turns to mud. Gravity pulls that mud into the backing. After cleaning, that mud wicks back up to the surface. That is why your carpet will look dingy after a while. The longer the carpet takes to dry, the more dirty water is left behind.

Even if the customer pre-vacuumed right before we arrived, we still need to vacuum. It is the essential first step in professional cleaning. Vacuuming is the best way to remove dry soil and particulates. We use a Carpet and Rug Institute Seal of Approval commercial grade, 2-motor vacuum with dual HEPA filtration. Not only will it remove more soil, but it also won’t expel dust and particulates back into the environment. Customers are surprised when they see a whole vacuum bag full of soil that I get out of their freshly vacuumed carpet. Some situations require using cylindrical brush machines to remove deeper embedded soil.

Don’t Learn From Hack Carpet Cleaners

Back to the question: How many carpet cleaners pre-vacuum? Almost none. Did you know that most carpet cleaners do not carry a vacuum on their trucks? We call them “hacks” or “splash-and-dash” cleaners. They will be long gone before I finish vacuuming and begin wet cleaning. Yep, they are laughing all the way to the bank at your expense. What’s the Best Vacuum Cleaner

I often get asked by customers, what is the best vacuum to purchase. The answer is simple. The best vacuum is the one you will use. Regular vacuuming is far better than infrequent vacuuming with a vacuum that is too heavy or hard to use.

So, what about you? Wouldn’t you rather leave it to the professional?
