Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about Tapestry Fine Carpet, Rug & Upholstery Cleaning and our highly specialized services in Victoria, BC.
How does your pricing and service compare to other companies?
We are not the cheapest nor the most expensive. Our simple all-inclusive pricing includes every conceivable extra that many companies will try to upsell when they get to your home. Specialized stain removal (including pet stain removal), anti-allergen treatment, odour removal (including pet odour removal), sanitizing, and anti-resoiling protection for no extra charge! We list our flat-rate prices on our website, and when you schedule or book online. You are hiring a highly-skilled, detail-obsessed owner-operator who cares about his work and you, the client. That also includes your home. About a quarter of my work is fixing other companies’ mistakes or poor workmanship. Eva and I could go on and on about how nothing we do is ordinary (you can find 14 reasons to trust us on our service pages), but the bottom line is it’s about who is doing the work. God is in the details.
Can I book your services online?
Yes. Please do! It is the best way to book our services. But you can call or text as well. We won’t hold it against you! 🙂 Why do we like online booking? Eva and I want you to have peace of mind knowing the exact price before you schedule or book our carpet cleaning services. That is why we list our flat-rate pricing on our website and offer online booking. Our online booking is fast and super-easy, and no payment information is required. Plus, you will not have to jump through hoops. Imagine never being put on hold, forced to talk to a salesperson, play telephone tag, or endure high-pressure sales tactics and awkward questions. You can book your next carpet cleaning in just a few minutes!
How long will my carpets take to dry?
Your carpets will be dry and ready to use in about an hour or two. We designed our carpet cleaning service exclusively for our humid coastal climate in the Greater Victoria Region.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that uncontrollable events and emergencies happen to everyone, especially during this pandemic or post-pandemic landscape. All we ask is to please keep in mind that last-minute cancellations mean we most likely will not be able to fill your time slot, resulting in a loss of income which is difficult for a small boutique business.
What are your payment Options and terms?
For our residential services, payment is due upon completion of services. We accept debit, credit cards, cheques and e-transfer. If you choose to e-transfer, please do so promptly, as it is easy to forget. The only thing we do not like about our job is having to remind clients to pay! Commercial services are normally Net 30.
Why did my carpet swell after cleaning?
This rare temporary phenomenon is caused by what the industry refers to as differential expansion. We only see it occur once or twice a year. If it happens, please do not worry! The carpet will lay flat again within 48 hours. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict when this will occur. Of course, it always happens after we have left the customer’s home, and we cannot explain it to them! Here is what happens: All wall-to-wall carpet expands and contracts with varying humidity. Usually, you will never notice this occurring. However, some latex-backed carpets contain fillers that will absorb moisture and swell or expand at a rate that causes swelling. Once fully dry, the carpet return to its normal condition. Poor installation is most likely the culprit. Many carpet installers use a cheap knee-kicker instead of power-stretching the carpet. By the way, this is also why many carpets will develop small permanent ripples over time. If you purchase a new carpet, make sure to get in writing that the installer will follow the CRI Commercial (104) and Residential (105) Carpet Installation Standards.
